Refund Policy
Last updated: September 7, 2026
1. Overview
This Refund Policy outlines the circumstances under which tellodb ("we", "us", "our") provides refunds for subscriptions to RigorDesk ("the Service"). We aim to be fair and transparent about our billing practices.
2. If you are a consumer in the EU or UK
Consumers resident in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom have a statutory right to withdraw from a distance contract within 14 days of entering into it, without giving a reason. Because a subscription starts at once, that right interacts with immediate supply: if you expressly asked us to start during the 14-day window and acknowledged that you would lose the right once the service had been fully performed, the right ends on full performance; if you asked us to start and then withdraw part-way through, you pay only a proportionate amount for what you used and we refund the balance; and if no such request and acknowledgement was made, your full 14-day right stands. To withdraw, email sharjeel@tellodb.com within 14 days saying that you wish to cancel. We refund using the same payment method you used, within 14 days of accepting the withdrawal. These rights sit on top of the discretionary refunds described below and are never replaced by them. Nothing in this policy affects your statutory rights, including your right to a remedy where a service is not supplied with reasonable care and skill.
3. Who you are actually buying from
Paddle acts as the merchant of record for RigorDesk subscriptions. That means your contract of sale for the payment is with Paddle, Paddle appears on your statement, Paddle handles sales tax and VAT, and Paddle's own buyer terms and refund handling also apply to your purchase. You can raise a refund request either with us using the process below or directly with Paddle. Approaching us first is usually faster, and we will coordinate with Paddle on your behalf.
4. Free Hobby Tier
The Hobby tier is free of charge and includes 2 debates per month. No payment information is required to use the Hobby tier beyond email verification. Since the Hobby tier is free, no refunds apply.
5. Subscription Billing
Paid subscriptions (Pro at $20/month and Pro Max at $100/month) are billed monthly in advance via Paddle. Your subscription begins on the date you complete checkout and will automatically renew each month unless cancelled.
6. Cancellation
You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account Settings page or the Customer Portal. Upon cancellation, you will continue to have access to your plan's features for the remainder of the current billing period. Your subscription will not renew at the end of that period and you will not be charged further. Cancellation does not entitle you to a refund for the current billing period.
7. Refund Eligibility
We offer refunds in the following circumstances. Service unavailability: if the Service experiences extended downtime (more than 48 consecutive hours of unavailability) during your billing period, you may request a prorated refund for the affected period. Billing errors: if you were charged incorrectly (e.g., duplicate charges, incorrect plan, charges after cancellation), we will refund the erroneous charges in full upon verification. Unused service: if you cancel within 48 hours of your initial subscription or renewal payment and have not used the Service during that period, you may request a full refund of the most recent charge.
8. Non-Refundable Circumstances
Refunds are not provided for dissatisfaction with LLM output quality or debate results (the Service provides AI-generated outputs that may vary in quality; we recommend using the free Hobby tier to evaluate the Service before subscribing); partial usage of a billing period (if you have used the Service during the current billing period, the full month's charge applies); or compute-credit usage (Pro and Pro Max include monthly compute-credit allowances; unused monthly allowances do not roll over and are not refundable). This section describes our own discretionary policy only. It does not limit the statutory cancellation and refund rights described in section 2, and where the two conflict, your statutory rights win.
9. How to Request a Refund
To request a refund, contact us through the RigorDesk platform or via the support email listed on our website. Please include the email address associated with your account, the date and amount of the charge, and the reason for your refund request. We will review your request and respond within 5 business days. Approved refunds will be processed through Paddle and will appear on your original payment method within 5–10 business days, depending on your financial institution.
10. Downgrading Your Plan
You may downgrade from Pro Max to Pro, or from Pro to Hobby, at any time through your account Settings page. The downgrade takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You will not receive a refund or credit for the difference between plans for the current billing cycle.
11. Chargebacks & Disputes
If you have a billing concern, we encourage you to contact us first so we can attempt to resolve it directly. Chargebacks filed with your bank or credit card company may result in immediate account suspension while we investigate. If a chargeback is determined to be fraudulent, we reserve the right to permanently terminate your account.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Refund Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Material changes will be communicated via email or through the Service. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
13. Contact
For questions about billing or to request a refund, contact us through the RigorDesk platform or via the support channels listed on our website.
